Our Story
Although the name Amtech Medical is new, the people and experience of our team began many years ago. Amtech is a result of a partnership between 2 separate businesses; Paradise Biomedical and Universal Medical Lasers.
Universal Medical Lasers (UML) was founded in 1985 by Herb Deigl. Herb’s vision was to assemble a team of specialized individuals capable of providing exceptionally high quality service to the medical laser industry.
UML, through many years of experience, developed capabilities to service Surgical, Dermatologic/Aesthetic, and Ophthalmic Laser systems. Since 1985, UML has been an industry leading laser service company committed to providing reliable and quality service and repair. Herb is a brilliant engineer and ran a very successful service business that thrived on the vision he initially set forth way back in 1985. As time went on, Herb grew closer to retirement and Wayne Delgado, one of our partners, became the lead engineer for UML. Wayne is also a member of the Professional Medical Education Association and provides laser education and support at the Laser Training Institute.
Paradise Biomedical was founded in 2019 by our partner Michael Field. Michael’s vision was simple; to provide 100% honest service at an affordable rate. As Paradise was started in June of 2019, not even 1 full year into the creation of the business, growth opportunities came to a halt due to the Covid19 Pandemic.
Determined to make it work, Michael took a different approach. Since growing our footprint to new clients became impossible, the only option was to provide a more comprehensive and complete service for the current clientele. At the time, the only services Paradise provided was maintenance and repair on diagnostic laboratory equipment. Many of Paradise’s clients were Dermatology facilities. Paradise started developing capabilities to service more equipment within the Dermatology space. At first, that just meant autoclave sterilizers and exam chairs, but as time went on it turned into service of Medical Lasers. In September of 2020, Michael took an accredited class at the Laser Training Institute where he met Wayne Delgado. From then on, Michael and Wayne began working with each other. For the next 5 years, Michael and Wayne’s relationship developed into a deeply rooted friendship and eventually the thought of becoming partners was brought to the table. Then in March 2025 an official partnership was created and the rest is history.

Partner
After Highschool, Michael enlisted in the US Navy. He spent his time in the naval submarine service on board the USS Santa Fe as a fire control technician, responsible for operation and maintenance of large weapons systems to include Tomahawk Missiles and Torpedoes. While in the Navy, Michael took classes through Navy College, which is an online-based collegiate program for deployed sailors and studied electrical engineering. Upon completion of honorable service in the Navy, Michael began working in medical instrumentology in 2016 studying the diagnostic laboratory space. In 2019, Michael founded Paradise Biomedical, which later became Amtech. Now, Michael is in charge of growth and operations of both the service and sales side of Amtech Medical.
Wayne Delgado

Wayne graduated from Florida Tech as an Electrical Engineer in 2000 and was married starting his family of six in 2001. Directly after graduation, he began working in R & D developing test equipment for the oil and gas industry and then moved into avionics, RF, and eventually high voltage power supplies. He was hired at Universal Medical Lasers in 2012 and was enamored by the physics and technicality of light and lasers. Over the next thirteen years, Wayne worked to become UML’s lead engineer and to establish himself as a competent and trustworthy field service engineer at hospitals throughout the country and the Caribbean. In 2018, he became part of the faculty at the Laser Training Institute teaching and training biomeds in the fundamentals of lasers and maintenance. He partnered with Michael and Tyler in 2025 to begin Amtech and is responsible for training and building a strong team of field service technicians.
Tyler Harper
Partner
Tyler has a bachelors degree in information systems from Louisiana State University. While he was there he was a part of the swim team, qualifying for the 2016 Olympic trials and competing in SEC championships all 4 years. After graduating he went into the information technology field and has a background in managed services and project management. He is married to his wife Morgan, and expect his first born October of 2025

Alyssa Lobue
Service Coordinator
Alyssa, who is also Michael’s wife, has a 4 year degree from Nova Southeastern University. She studied Medical Sonography (Ultrasounds) and graduated in 2021. Alyssa spent a year in clinical rotations, learning first hand on-site at West Boca Medical Center and Baptist Health hospital in Miami, Florida as an ultrasound technician. After clinicals, Alyssa took a full time position at Baptist Health where she worked until mid 2023. Due to the increased workload and growth of Paradise Biomedical, Michael needed some help managing service and other computer-based responsibilities. Alyssa decided to step up and fill the role. Alyssa immediately began working with Paradise and has learned to be an all star Service Coordinator.

John Pleska
Service Technician
John Pleska is the guru of electronic systems. John is an electronics engineer and has a bachelor’s degree of science in physics from Bowling Green University. Prior to working with Universal Medical Lasers and Amtech, John had a full career working with Boeing in the Integrated Defense Space Systems Program from 1988 to 2011. At The Boeing Company, John worked in the failure analysis lab, studying electronic failures in various aerospace programs. During this time, John also worked with NASA as part of the space shuttle program. He was in charge of analyzing and troubleshooting black box anomalies. John studied avionics engineering as part of his Nasa duties. John has spent a ton of time reading schematics and is able to test electronics down to the component level. He began working with Universal Medical Lasers immediately after his departure with Boeing and has spent the last 13 year studying advanced medical laser systems. Today, John is an all-star laser engineer and uses his many years of electronics experience to help keep our client’s lasers operational.
