Description
ConMed ThermoGard™ Dispersive Electrodes are designed to actively monitor and control patient return electrode temperature during monopolar electrosurgery. The ThermoGard platform incorporates thermal monitoring technology intended to reduce the risk of excessive heating at the patient return site by detecting abnormal temperature changes and alerting the electrosurgical generator when conditions become unsafe.
ThermoGard electrodes use a multi-layer construction with integrated sensing elements that continuously monitor pad-to-skin temperature during energy delivery. This feedback helps the generator regulate power output or alert clinicians before thermal injury can occur.
ThermoGard electrodes are available in adult and pediatric sizes, single and dual foil configurations, with and without cables, and in ABC-enabled versions for use with compatible generators. This allows facilities to match the appropriate safety and monitoring configuration to their procedural and equipment requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
- What is the difference between ThermoGard and standard dispersive electrodes?
ThermoGard electrodes include integrated temperature monitoring to detect abnormal heating at the return site.
- What does ABC mean?
ABC versions are designed for use with generators that support Active Battery Control or advanced safety monitoring functions.
- Are ThermoGard electrodes single-use?
Yes. They are supplied sterile and intended for single use only.
- Can ThermoGard be used with any generator?
Standard ThermoGard electrodes are compatible with most monopolar generators; ABC versions require compatible equipment.
